From Tuesday July the 5th to Thursday July the 7th, the Chief of the Romanian Navy, Rear Admiral Alexandru Mirsu paid an official visit to Greece, following an invitation extended by the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Georgios Giakoumakis HN.
On Tuesday 5 July the Chief of the Romanian Navy visited the Hellenic Navy Headquarters, where he discussed issues of mutual interest with the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Georgios Giakoumakis HN. He was also informed about the HNGS activities. Subsequently he visited the Hellenic Naval Academy, where he met with the Commander, Rear Admiral Vasileios Theologitis and had a tour of the Academy’s facilities.
On Wednesday 6 July the Chief of the Romanian Navy paid a visit to the Damage Control School at the PALASKAS training centre where he was welcomed by the Commander of the Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Alexandros Diakopoulos HN and had a tour of the Command’s facilities. He also visited the Fleet Headquarters where he was welcomed by the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Konstantinos Karageorgis HN. He was informed on the Fleet’s activities and visited several warships as well as the submarine simulator.
On Thursday 7 July the Chief of the Romanian Navy paid a visit to the Naval Dock Crete and the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Centre (NMIOTC).
