History

The Navy Vehicles’ Central Station (KSAN) is a service under the command of the Navy Logistics Administration (DDMN), subject to the Administrative Care and Operational Control of the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff (A/ΓΕΝ). Established in 1944, under the name Royal Navy Vehicles Agency (YABN), it was initially located in the area of Metaxourgeio. Six months later, it relocated in the premises of the “LYON” industry in Syggrou Avenue, where it operated until August 1952, eventually being transferred and hosted in the area of Votanikos, in premises owned by the Hellenic Navy Fortress of Votanikos. In 1973 it was renamed KSAN and came under the DDMN administration since the 1st of July 1980.

Under Presidential decree no. 95/2010, the limits of the Hellenic Navy Fortress of Votanikos were modified due to the administrative expropriation of seventeen acres for the construction of the Islamic Mosque of Athens by the Hellenic Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. The totality of the crews and administrative services of KSAN relocated in its central building in 2012.

KSAN’s crest depicts the anchor, symbol of the Hellenic Navy with two laurels on each side. On the anchor lies a bee, symbol of teamwork, methodicalness, efficiency and productivity.
