From Monday October the 10th to Thursday October the 13th, the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Georgios Giakoumakis HN paid an official visit to Bulgaria, following a formal invitation extended by the Chief of the Bulgarian Navy, Rear Admiral, Mitko Alexandrov Petev.
During his visit, the HNGS Chief had the opportunity to discuss with his counterpart issues of mutual interest, as well as initiatives for the reinforcement of the cooperation between the two Navies.
The HNGS Chief visited the Bulgarian Naval Academy and the Naval Stations of Burgas and Varna, as part of the presentation of recent developments and ongoing activities of the Bulgarian Navy.
Furthermore, during the afore-mentioned visit the two Chiefs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, regarding the participation of Bulgarian Navy personnel on board Hellenic Navy ships, during multinational NATO, European Union and/or United Nations Operations.
