From Monday 27th to Tuesday 28th of February 2017, a co-operation among units of the Hellenic Navy and units of the Naval Forces of Standing NΑΤΟ Maritime Group 2 (SNMG-2) and Standing NΑΤΟ Mine Counter Measures Group 2 (SNMCMG-2) was conducted in the sea area of the Saronic and the Myrtoan Sea.
The Hellenic Navy participated with the minehunter HS KALLISTO, two helicopters (one type S70B, Aegean Hawk and one type ΑΒ-212), and a Special Forces Team from the Underwater Demolition Command. The Allied Forces took part with the German frigate FGS SACHSEN, which is the SNMG-2 flagship, the Polish ORP KONTRADMIRAL XAWERY CZERNICK, which is the SNMCMG-2 flagship, the German GS ROTTWEIL, and the Spanish ESPS DUERO.
The cooperation focused on technical exercises of countermine operations, air defense, anti-surface warfare, countering asymmetric threats and advanced maneuvering.
