Official Visit of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff to Cyprus

From Monday 29 to Tuesday 30 July 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, paid an official visit to Cyprus, at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas.

On Monday, July 29, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Naval Base “Evangelos Florakis”, where, after his official welcome by the Commander of the Navy Command, Commodore Minas Solomonides HN, he laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Fallen and Missing of the Navy. He then visited HS Kountouriotis that was docked in Limassol as part of her participation in Operation UNIFIL.

On Tuesday, July 30, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Embassy of Greece in Nicosia, where he had a meeting with Ambassador Ioannis Papameletiou. He then visited the General Staff of the National Guard, where he had a meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the National Guard and the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Vassilis Palmas. Afterwards, the Chief of HNGS went to the Tomb of Makedonitissa, where he laid a wreath paying tribute to the fallen of the Hellenistic struggles in Cyprus.
