From Thursday, September 26 to Monday September 30, 2024, the Chief of Indian Navy General Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, paid an official visit to Greece.
On Thursday, September 26, an official welcome was held by the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN at the Hellenic Navy General Staff. This was followed by a briefing on the activities of the Hellenic Navy and a discussion on issues of mutual interest, with emphasis on the evolving situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the strategic relationship between Greece and India. Both agreed to further strengthen and expand the bilateral cooperation between the Hellenic and Indian Navies. The Chief of Indian Navy General Staff then met with the Deputy Chief of HNDGS, Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos HN and with the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis.
On Friday, September, 27 the Chief of Indian Navy General Staff went to the Naval Fort of Skaramanga, where he was welcomed by the Commander of the Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral George Angouras HN and was guided to the facilities of PALASKAS Training Centre, where the capabilities of the Damage Control Simulator of the Damage Control School, were demonstrated.
Then the Chief of Indian Navy General Staff went to Fleet Headquarters, at Salamis Naval Base, where he was briefed on the activities of the Fleet and met with the Chief of Defence General Dimitrios Choupis and the Commander in Chief of Hellenic Fleet Vice Admiral Polychronis Koulouris HN. He then boarded HS HYDRA, HS KATSONIS and HS GRIGOROPOULOS.
On Monday, September 30, the Chief of Indian Navy General Staff, went to Hellenic Naval Academy where he was welcomed by the Commander of Hellenic Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Fotios Mpotsas HN. During the visit, issues of academic and maritime education were discussed, as well as the possibility of further cooperation on education issues.
