Bilateral Exercise between Greece and India in the Aegean Sea

 

On Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September 2025, a bilateral exercise between Greece and India was conducted in the maritime area of the Myrtoan Sea and the central Aegean, with the participation of naval units and air assets. Hellenic Navy participated with HS THEMISTOKLES, HS PIPINOS, and one Fast Transport Unconventional Warfare Boat of the Special Forces Command, while the Indian Navy participated with the Frigate INS TRIKAND.

During the exercise, multiple training activities were carried out, with emphasis on surface warfare, countering air threats, anti-submarine warfare, live firing, as well as the development and exchange of an operational picture. In addition, during the exercise, four crew members from INS TRIKAND embarked on HS THEMISTOKLES, enhancing the level of cooperation and interoperability between the participating units.

The above activity was combined with scheduled operational training of the Fleet Headquarters. The planning and successful execution of the bilateral exercise confirmed the excellent cooperation between the Navies of Greece and India.
