Rear Admiral (E) Stavros Terpenou HN

Rear Admiral (E) Stavros Terpenou, HN was born in Florina, Greece, in February 1969. He joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1986 and graduated in 1990,  as Ensign (Engineering Officer) of the Hellenic Navy.

During his sea service, he served on major combat units of the Hellenic Navy as Engineering Watch Officer, 2nd Engineer, Head of Electronics Department, and Head of Propulsion and Power Generation Department aboard the LST HS LESVOS.

After completing his sea assignments, he served in several staff and command positions ashore, including Staff Officer at the HNDGS, Director of Ship Systems at the Fleet Headquarters, Head of the National and Allied Infrastructure Section at the HNGS, Deputy Commander of the Naval Detachment Skaramagas, Director of Planning and Logistics Policy at the HNGS, Director of Mechanical Systems at the HNGS, Deputy Commandant of the Supreme Joint War College (SJWC), And Director of Infrastructure and Environmental Protection at the HNDGS.

In 2026 he was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral (Engineering) and appointed Deputy Commandant of the Joint Academic Education Command (JAEC).

He has attended all required career schools of the Hellenic Navy and the Hellenic Armed Forces, including the Hellenic National Defence College (HNDC). In addition, he is a graduate of the Technical Training School for Engineer Officers (STEAMX).

He holds a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

He has been awarded with all the medals, decorations and commendations stipulated for an officer of his rank, by the Hellenic Armed Forces.

He speaks English very well.

He is married and has one son.
