Construction
The Landing Ship, class 521, formerly the German SEELILIE LCM 7, was built at the REINWERTH Shipyards in Walsum, West Germany, in 1965. The vessel belongs to the Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) type.
Commissioning
She was decommissioned by the German Navy in August 1981 and subsequently delivered on April 25, 1991, to the Hellenic Navy as military aid, under the designation ABM 26. Since then, she was used as an amphibious operations vessel by Hellenic Navy and was part of the Landing Fleet, transported by HS NAUKRATOUSA. After the decommissioning of HS NAUKRATOUSA, she was requested for use by the Reserve Special Forces Club of Thessaloniki (L.E.K.) and was granted on November 11, 2002, for the club’s activities, being renamed “ARGYRASPIS.” Later, on January 21, 2014, she was returned once again to the Hellenic Navy.
