From Tuesday the 4th until the 7th of October 2022, the Chief of the Hellenic General Staff, Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, attended the 13th Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium / T-RSS 2022, in Venice. The aim of the symposium is the development and empowerment of the national/regional cooperation and initiative actions, regarding the involved Navy’s of the respective states.
At the symposium, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, presided in the second thematic section “Developing Technology and Capabilities in a competitive age”. This specific section was focused on the technological advancements with distinct regard to the dimension to which they grow to, in the current period regarding the cyberspace, artificial intelligence, and the challenges that these pose in their application in the naval ecosystem.
In the margins of the symposium, the Chief of the Hellenic General Staff had bilateral conversations/meetings with the Chief of Naval Operations of the USA Admiral Michael M. Gilday, the Chief of the French Navy General Staff Admiral Pierre Vandier, the First Sea Lord of the UK Admiral Sir Ben Key, the Chief of the Italian Navy General Staff Admiral Enrico Credendino, the Chief of the Albanian Navy General Staff Rear Admiral Adnand Agasta and the Chief of the Croatian Navy General Staff Rear Admiral Ivo Raffanelli. Additionally, he met with the Commander of Naval Forces of the European, African USA and the 6th American Fleet (COMUS6FLEET – USNAVEUR-AFRICA, COM JFCNP) Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander of the Naval Forces of Cyprus Captain Konstantinos Gennadiou and the Captain of Naval Forces of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Colonel Hisham Khaleel Aljarrah. During these meetings subjects of mutual concern and the latest update regarding the Ukrainian war as well as the further upgrade of the bilateral cooperation were discussed.
