From 7 to 8 May 2015, the HNGS Chief Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis attended the CHENS 2015 (Chiefs of European Navies 2015) convention, in Naples Italy.
The CHENS convention is held in an annual base since 1990. The aforementioned convention is also conducted with the participation of the Chiefs of NATO and EU Navies, as well as the participation of the Commander of US Naval Forces.
The main aspect discussed in CHENS 2015, commented also by HNGS Chief, was the transition of Naval Forces from the conventional status to a more challenging environment, in aspects of homeland security and the establishment of mutual understanding between Europe and North Africa in the common ground of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the margins of the Symposium the HNGS Chief had the opportunity to meet and discuss with his counterparts, issues of mutual interest.
Additionally the HNGS Chief visited the JOINT FORCE COMMAND NAPLES (JFC NAPLES) where he met with the JFC Commander and the commanders of US Naval Forces Europe-Africa, Admiral Mark E. Ferguson USN and the Staff Officers of the Hellenic Navy, serving the HQ Naples.
