Visit of the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff to the United States of America

From Tuesday October 7th, to Monday October 13th 2025, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras HN, visited the United States of America, after an invitation from his counterpart, Admiral Daryl Caudle, Chief of Naval Operations (CNO).

The scheduled bilateral meeting between the two Chiefs took place at the historic monument “Carpenter’s Hall” in Philadelphia, PA, where they discussed issues of mutual interest as well as initiatives to further enhance bilateral cooperation, reaffirming the excellent partnership and prospect for interaction between the two Navies.

Subsequently, in the context of the invitation, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, participated in the commemorative events marking the 250th anniversary of the US Navy (Navy Marine Corps 250 Commemoration) in Philadelphia, PA. On the sidelines of the said events, Vice Admiral Kataras, held a bilateral meeting with the Chief of the French Navy, Vice Admiral Nicolas Vaujour and had the opportunity to meet the Secretary of the Navy, Mr. John Phelan.

During his visit to the United States, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff traveled to Washington, DC where he met with the Director of the Naval International Programs Office (NIPO), Rear Admiral Raymond P. Owens III, and discussed the progress of Hellenic Navy procurement programs under NIPO’s purview. In addition, he visited the Embassy of Greece, where he met with the Greek Ambassador, Ms. Ekaterini Nassika, as well as with the Greek Officers of the Military Delegation, from all three branches of the Hellenic Armed Forces.

Furthermore, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, where he met with its President, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Ann E. Rondeau. The Chief was briefed on academic programs related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Unmanned Systems, as well as on the progress of the U.S. Navy’s Naval Innovation Center (NIC). He also had the opportunity to meet with the Hellenic Navy Officers currently studying at the university and was informed about the progress of their academic programs.
