HS STRAVON is constructed of steel, except for the mast, which was originally steel but was replaced with aluminum in 1991.

The vessel was built to carry out hydrographic operations. She has three decks:

Deck 0 (main deck)

Deck 1 (superstructure deck), where the bridge, hydrography section, and radio room are located

Deck -1, which includes accommodation spaces, the engine room, and storage areas

The ship’s propulsion is achieved by two Diesel engines, MAND 2842 LE V-type, with a total power output of 1320 HP. The engine power is transmitted through reduction gears to two propellers.

The vessel’s maximum speed is 12.7 knots, while her economical speed is 9.6 knots, with a maximum range of 2,245 nautical miles at economical speed.

Control of the main engines is carried out from the bridge via control systems. In case of malfunction of the bridge controls, operation can be performed manually from the engine room.
