History

The name comes from the history of the pre-revolutionary period of Greek history. It was given in honor of the sea fighter and Officer of the Russian Imperial Army, Lambros Katsonis (1752 – 1804) who, with a war squadron he created, fought against the Turkish fleet in the Greek seas and carried out raids on Turkish coastal forts with Kea and Porto Kagio of Mani as his bases.
