History

It is the first of the five chariot ships that were built at Elefsina Shipyards on the order of the Ministry of National Defence. Chariot ships of this type have been designed in Greece by the Hellenic Navy General Staff in collaboration with the Metsovio Technical University of Athens and the Elefsinos Shipyards. It was launched on September 29, 1987 and handed over to the Greek Navy on May 20, 1994, with the first commander being Lieutenant Colonel M. Kapsalas PN.
