A Flecher type destroyer, Sfendoni (D-85), was built in the USA between 1941 and 1942 at the shipyards “USA-Consolidated Steel Corp. Texas». The ship was handed over in 1959 at Philadelphia Naval Base, to Commander A. Chrisanthis and a few months later, she sailed into the Naval Base of Salamis.

In 1991 Sfendoni was decommissioned, at the naval base of Souda (Crete).
