The warship Kallithea together with 4 other ships of similar type was built in the French shipyards “La Seyne” in 1881, following an order from the Greek Government.
The arming of Kallithea with torpedo tubes was carried out at the Salamis Naval Station, by the officers of the Torpedo School, and the ship was mainly used for coastal defense.
In 1889 Kallithea was renamed Torpedo Boat 5 and then took part in the Greek-Turkish War of 1897.
A few years later she was retired.
