It is announced by the HNGS that with regard to internet posts related to NAVTEX message No. 248/17 appearing on the Navigation, Hydrography, and Oceanography Turkish Office website, Greek Service Areas having to do with the promulgation of NAVTEX navigation warnings to mariners have been established since the 80’s, as decided and approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in Conferences attended by Turkey as well.
It is also highlighted that Service Areas of other nations in the Mediterranean have been established under the same process.

In any case and under all circumstances, the Hellenic Navy will continue to provide high quality services for the safety of mariners, with absolute consistency and in accordance with the responsibilities assigned to Greece by the IMO.
