Official Visit of the HNGS Chief to Egypt

From Sunday January the 29th to Friday February the 3rd, the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Nicolaos Tsounis HN paid an official visit to Egypt, following a formal invitation extended by the Chief of the Egyptian Navy, Rear Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan.

During his visit, the HNGS Chief had the opportunity to discuss with his counterpart issues of mutual interest and initiatives for the reinforcement of the cooperation between the two Navies. Moreover, a meeting among him and the Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazi, took place.

The HNGS Chief visited the Alexandria Naval Base, Egyptian Warships, the Naval College and the Headquarters of Special Forces, as part of the presentation of recent developments and ongoing activities of the Egyptian Navy.

Furthermore, the HNGS Chief paid a visit to the Patriarchate of Alexandria, where a meeting between him and His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, took place, while the meeting was attended by the General Consul in Alexandria, Mr Emmanouil Kakavelakis. At the same time, the HNGS Chief had the opportunity to meet with both the Greek Ambassador in Egypt, Mr Michael Diamesis, and the President of the Greek Community in Cairo, Christos Kavalis.
