From Wednesday 2 to Thursday 3 September 2026, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, paid an official visit to Bulgaria, following an invitation from his counterpart, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.
At the Headquarters of the Bulgarian Navy, the Chief of the HNGS was officially received by his Bulgarian counterpart. Talks between the two Chiefs followed, during which issues of mutual interest were discussed and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two Navies were explored.
The Chief of the HNGS subsequently visited the Varna Naval Base, where he was given a tour of the facilities of the Black Sea Maritime Coordination Element and was briefed on its activities.
He then visited “Nikola Y. Vaptsarov” Naval Academy, where he toured its facilities and was briefed on the Academy’s capabilities and activities.
Finally, the Chief of the HNGS visited the “MTG-Dolphin” Shipyard, where he was briefed on its work, infrastructure, and capabilities.
