History

Air-Cushion Landing Craft (PTM), type – KEFALLINIA (Russian name ZUBR – NATO name POMORNIK), the largest in size air-cushion landing crafts in the world and constitute the fourth generation of air-rush vessels.

HS ZAKYNTHOS is the third PTM to be received by the Hellenic Navy. She is Russian’s origin and designed according to the program 12322. Her construction began in 2000 at the shipyard of the company ALMAZ in St. Petersburg and was launched in May, 2001. Her accession to the Hellenic Navy as well as the raising of the Flag took place on October 5, 2001 with Captain Lieutenant M. Tsenebis HN.
