History

The ship started being built in 1985 at Chalkida Shipyards. On June 1986 the shipyards interrupted ther operation and the ship became property of ETBA.After relevant procedures the H.N. took the ownership of the ship and assigns its completion with a new contract to the Avlida Shipyards  from where it was received in 1991 with the mission of supplying water to warships, Naval Services and arid islands. In 2021 the conversion  of the ship from an Aquifer to an oil tanker was decided. The conversion of the ship to an oil tanker was performed  at the Naval Station  of Salamis from July 12 to December 16, 2021. On the8th of March 2022, by decision of the Deputy Ministry  of National Defence, the ship officially changed type and renamed from HS Stymfalia to P/F ILISSOS with the mission of transporting fuel (fuel oil,JP-5,JP-8) for the benefit of the H.N. and the other branches of the Hellenic Armed Forces
