Rear Admiral Spyridon Tsiafoutis HN, was born in Athens in 1969. He enrolled in the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1986, from which he graduated in 1990 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

He has served as Communications and Operations Officer aboard the Destroyer NEARCHOS (D-219), the Destroyer FORMION (D-220), the HS YDRA (F-452) and the HS SALAMIS (F-455) and as an Executive Officer on HS SPETSAI (F-453). From 2004 to 2006 he served as Adjutant of the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff. From 2006 to 2008 he assumed the command of the Fast Patrol Boat SIMITZOPOYLOS (P-79). From 2009 to 2012 he served as a staff Officer in A3 Division at the Hellenic Navy General Staff. From 2012 to 2015 he has served at the HQ SACT/SEE (MONS BELGIUM) as Staff Officer of Defense Planning ACT/SEE. From 2016 to 2018 he assumed Command of HS YDRA (F-452), a MEKO-type frigate. From 2017 to 2019 he served as Command of A3 Division at the HNGS. In 2019 he was appointed as Director within the Staff Officer of the Chief of the HNGS, apposition he held until 2020. From 2020 to 2021 he assumed the duties of the Commandant of the Second Frigates Squadron. From 2021 to 2022 he served as the Director of Operational Assessment at the Fleet Headquarters. In May 2022, he served as A Branch Director of the Fleet Headquarters, up to May 2024.

In March 2024, he was promoted to Commodore and assumed the duties of the Commandant of the Frigates Command (COMHELFRIG).

In January 2025, he was promoted to Rear Admiral and assumed the duties of the Commandant of the Naval Training Command.

He has successfully attended a number of military and civilian courses and schools among which are the following:

• General and Specialized training at the Hellening Navy Training Center – Specialty in Communications (1994)
• Degree of Principal Warfare Officers of the Hellenic Navy 
• Hellenic Naval Staff and Command College (2001)
• Supreme Joint Staff War College (2009)
• Postgraduate degree in International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia (2011)
• Hellenic National Defense College (2017) 

He was promoted as follows:

He owns all the medals and decorations of the Greek Armed Forces which provided by his rank. Also he owns service awards for his participation in Peacekeeping missions and he has honored with the medal of KING FANXT and KOYBEIT. 

He is married and he has one son.

He speaks the English Language very well.
