From Monday 11th to Thursday 14th December 2017, the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN paid an official visit to Portugal, following a formal invitation extended by the Chief of the Israeli Navy, Admiral Antonio Silva Ribeiro.
During his visit, the HNGS Chief met his counterpart and discussed issues of mutual interest. The discussions were focused on the investigation of new fields for cooperation between the two navies, with an emphasis on operational and academic training.
Furthermore, the HNGS Chief participated in the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the founding of the Portuguese Navy.
He also visited the installations of STRIKFORNATO in Lisbon, where he met with Deputy Commander Rear Admiral Guy A Robinson OBE Royal Navy.
Finally, the HNGS Chief met the Greek Ambassador in Portugal, Ms Aikaterini Simopoulou, as well as with Officers of the Hellenic Navy who serve in the area.
