On Thursday, October 1, 2026, the ceremony for the change of EUNAVFOR MED IRINI Force Commander at Sea (COM FHQ) took place at the Naval Base of Taranto, Italy. The duties were handed over by Italian Rear Admiral Andrea Bielli to Commodore Stavros Polydorou HN, in the presence of the Italian Commander of Operation IRINI, Rear Admiral Marco Casapieri.
Commodore Stavros Polydorou HN will assume his duties for the next six months, with HS NΑVARINON serving as the flagship. He will be supported by the Operation’s Force Headquarters (FHQ), which includes Greek staff officers.
