Multinational Exercise “AEGEAN SEAL 25-I”

From Sunday, October 12 to Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Multinational Exercise “AEGEAN SEAL 25-I” took place in the wider maritime area of the southern Euboean Gulf and the Saronic Gulf.

This exercise is organized annually by the Hellenic Navy and focuses primarily on Naval Special Operations, specifically on pre-landing Very Shallow Water Mine Hunting and Explosive Ordnance Disposal / Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (EOD/C-IED) operations.

Hellenic Navy participated with HS ATLAS I, a S70B Aegean Hawk helicopter, as well as assets and personnel from the Underwater Demolition Command. Participating forces also included Mine Neutralizing Squads, divers, autonomous mine detection and neutralization vehicles, medical personnel, and support staff from Belgium, Estonia, the United States of America, Spain, Italy, Latvia, and Poland.

During the exercise, multiple training activities were conducted, emphasizing mine detection and neutralization, mine countermeasure operations in very shallow waters under multi-dimensional/asymmetric threat environments, and techniques for neutralizing standard and improvised explosive devices both on land and at sea.

The exercise contributed to the maintenance and enhancement of operational readiness, as well as to the promotion of cooperation and interoperability among the participating forces within an allied context.
