From Tuesday, 04 November to Thursday, 13 November 2025, the national Element “Naval Cooperation and Guidance for Shipping” (NCAGS) , named Deployed NCAGS Element (DNE) Piraeus, was activated at the facilities of the Naval Tactics Training School of Fleet Headquarters, under the coordination of Hellenic Navy General Staff. This activation took place within the context of our country’s participation in the Allied exercise “DYNAMIC MASTER 25”, organized by NATO Shipping Centre (NSC).
DNE Piraeus was staffed by officers of Hellenic Navy and Hellenic Coast Guard, as well as by 11 officers from NATO member states—specifically Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Latvia. In-person briefings were conducted aboard merchant ships and at shipping companies regarding operational developments and best practices on issues related to cooperation between NATO and the maritime community, aimed at ensuring free and safe navigation.
Specifically, in-person briefings were delivered aboard 29 merchant vessels in the ports of Piraeus, Keratsini, Eleusis, and Lavrion, as well as at 8 shipping companies. Additionally, for the first time, in-person briefings were conducted at the Merchant Navy Officers Training Centre for Masters and Engineers, attended by approximately 120 Merchant Marine Masters, as well as at Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.
Finally, on Thursday, 13 November 2025, under the coordination of HNGS, a courtesy visit and tour of the DNE Piraeus staff took place at the Floating Naval Museum Battleship “GEORGIOS AVEROF” and the Trireme “OLYMPIAS”, located at the Hellenic Maritime Heritage Park “ODYSSEUS – The Greeks and the Sea”, in the context of showcasing Greek naval history and tradition.
