Vision of the Chief

Αντιναύαρχος Δημήτριος-Ελευθέριος Κατάρας ΠΝ

My vision is a Strong and Modern Navy, worthy of its History, capable of projecting the required, reliable Naval Power in any region of geopolitical interest of Greece and to assert itself, effectively protecting the Sovereignty and interests of our Country.

Recognizing that the human factor is the most important weapon system and the greatest force multiplier, I aim primarily to attract, thoroughly train, inspire and retain the best warriors and future leaders.

My priorities are:

The effective care of staff with emphasis on their training, education, needs and problems, ensuring job stability and a spirit of ethics, fairness and meritocracy.

The recognition of the effort of the warship crews with proportionally equivalent, career and financial reward.

Ensuring the maximum possible availability of the Hellenic Navy Units.

To increase the operational capability of the Fleet through advancing the level of operational training.

The rationalization of the warship missions in the peacetime, so that on the one hand the requirements of operational planning, the readiness to react against threats or emergencies, as well as the international obligations/commitments of the Country are covered and on the other hand to save resources by limiting excessive strain to personnel and material.

The review of operational design, taking into account current threats and current / future possibilities.

The timely delivery, activation and operational exploitation of new units and flying assets.

The optimization of armament programs by adopting cutting-edge technologies.

Initiating the replacement of the Old Main Strike Units with new modern ones, seeking their co-production in Greece.

The promotion of inter-branch co-operation and ensuring the capacity of conducting joint operations.

The response to the problems of Greek society and our immediate and full assistance, wherever and whenever required.
