HS TRITON (S-112)
Crest
The ship’s crest presents a figure from the Hellenic mythology, ΤΡΙΤΟΝ. Triton was the son of God Poseidon and Amphitrite. He is usually represented as a merman, with the upper body of a human and the tailed lower body of a fish. Triton lived with his parents in a golden palace on the bottom of the sea. According to mythology, he was sailing into the sea in front of his parents' chariot, stopping the storm via the trumpeting of his shell.

History
HS TRITON (S-112) is a 209/1100 class diesel-submarine of the Hellenic Navy. It was ordered in 1967 by the Hellenic Navy at HDW Shipyards in Kiel, Germany. She was received on August 8, 1972 and sailed to Greece on November 11, 1972. She was the first GLAFKOS class submarine to join the NEPTUNE I modernization program and from August 1991 to August 1993. Modernization work took place at HDW’s facilities in Kiel, of Germany, for its operational and technological upgrade.
