On Thursday 23 and Friday 24 September 2021, following his participation in the NATO 2021 Submarine Commanders’ Meeting, hosted in Athens, the Commander Submarines NATO (COMSUBNATO) Rear Admiral Stephen Mack USN, paid an official visit to the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS) and the Hellenic Fleet Headquarters at the Salamis Naval Base.
During his visit to the HNGS, he was received by the Deputy Chief, Rear Admiral Georgios Kampourakis HN, while further on, he was briefed by Staff members about the operational activities of the Hellenic Navy units.
At the Salamis Naval Base, he paid a visit to the Chief of the Hellenic Fleet Vice Admiral Panagiotis Lymperis HN, with whom he discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation, among which the participation of Greek submarines in NATO missions and exercises.
Subsequently, Rear Admiral Stephen Mack USN was given a tour of the facilities of the Hellenic Submarines Command and the Submarine Training School. Finally he participated in a “PERISKOPIO” at sea exercise, onboard HS “KATSONIS” submarine, during which an SUT exercise torpedo was fired against a surface target.
