Submarine Commanders Conference ΝΑΤΟ 2021

From Monday 20th to Wednesday 22nd September 2021, the NATO Submarine Commanders Conference (SCC 21) took place at the Armed Forces Officers Club (LAED), in Athens, Greece.

The SCC is convened on an annual basis and is conducted by one of the member-states of the Alliance, that operates Submarines. The SCC 21 was hosted by the Hellenic Submarine Command (HELSUBCOM).

The meeting was chaired by Commander of Submarines NATO, Rear Admiral Stephen Mack USN, while an opening address was given by the Deputy Commander of the Hellenic Fleet, Rear Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN. Overall, Commanders and Staff members from all 13 NATO submarine operating nations, as well as staff members of the NATO Submarine Command (COMSUBNATO) and the Hellenic Fleet Headquarters, participated.

During the meeting, issues of interest to the submarine community, safety issues, future challenges and impending threats in the area of ​​responsibility of the alliance were discussed.
