Visit of the Chief of HNGS to France

From Tuesday 18th until Friday 21st of October 2022, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS), Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, visited France.

On Tuesday October 18th 2022 along with Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Hardalias, on behalf of Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros and also the General Director of the General Directorate for Defensive Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) Vice Admiral (rtd) Aristeidis Alexopoulos HN, the Chief of HNGS attended the opening ceremony of the World Naval Defence Exhibition “EURONAVAL 2022” at the “Paris Le Bourget” exhibition center in Paris. Within the framework of the Exhibition, on Tuesday October 18th 2022, he attended the inauguration of the Greek Pavilion in EURONAVAL “2022”, whereas on Wednesday October 19th and Thursday 20th 2022, he visited pavilions of several defense system companies.

In the margins of the Exhibition on Tuesday October 18th 2022, the Chief of HNGS attended the GICAN event which took place in Natural History Museum, whereas on Wednesday October 19th 2022 he participated along with his French counterpart Admiral Pierre Vandier on the French-Hellenic Forum.

On Friday October 21st 2022, Vice Admiral Petrakis visited Naval Group premises and the HN’s Naval Detachment in Lorient, where he was briefed on the ongoing progress of the FDI program.

Furthermore, he attended together with the Naval Group Executive Vice President Programs Olivier de la Bourdonnaye, the Major Milestone Accomplishment Ceremony of laying down the first block of the first FDI HN frigate, in dry dock. Moreover, the Chief of the HNGS was guided through the under-construction first French FDI and the shipyard’s facilities.
