History

Air-Cushion Landing Craft (PTM), type – KEFALONIA (Russian name ZUBR – NATO name POMORNIK), the largest in size air-cushion landing crafts in the world and constitute the fourth generation of air-rush vessels. HS ITHAKI is the second PTM received by the Hellenic Navy. She is of Ukrainian origin and design and was built in 1992 at the Morye shipyard in Theodosia, Ukraine. In the year 2000, a contract was signed between Greek and Ukrainian sides. From October 2000 to January 2001, the port trials and sea trials were carried out in Theodosia, Ukraine. The official receipt of the ship by the Hellenic Navy and the raising of the Greek Flag took place on March 2, 2001 at the Naval Station of Salamina with Commander Lieutenant G. Tatakos HN.
