History
- Auxiliary Harbor ship HS ACHELOOS (Α-451) was built in LAMBRO Shipyard in Glyfada, Attica in 1979, and belonged to the Fire Department of Heraklion, Crete from 1979 until 2013, as fire boat KOURKOULOS (ΠΣ-6).
- It has been received by the Hellenic Navy in February 2013 and has been assigned to the port auxiliary ships of the Navy’s Logistics Command on the 4th of November in 2015, remaining in commission to this day in Souda Naval Base.
- HS ACHELOOS is operationally characterized as port fire boat and is used to fire extinguishing missions.
- Her name comes from the homonymous river that originates from Pindos mountain range and empties into the Ionian Sea.
