History

  1. Tug ship HS KEKROPS (Α-435) was built in Jacksonville of Florida, USA on 23rd of June in 1942 and joined the US Navy in 1946 as USS WAHPETON (XTM-527).
  2. It has been received by the Hellenic Navy in March 1990 and has since been assigned to the auxiliary ships of the Navy’s Logistics Command, remaining in commission to this day in Souda Naval Base.
  3. HS KEKROPS is characterized as an offshore tug, is suitable for any work in and out of port, as well as for towing / submarine handling aid, due to the rubber protective parts it has on its bow and its reefs.
  4. Her name comes from the first mythical king Kekrops of the city of Athens, which was named Kekropia in his honor.
