Rear Admiral Stavros Karlatiras assumed duties as Commander of the Hellenic Navy NCO Academy on 23rd of January 2025.

Rear Admiral Stavros Karlatiras was born in Athens in 1966. He joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1985 and graduated in 1989 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

Schools and Specializations

He graduated the Hellenic Navy Specialization and Education School (option area weapons), the Hellenic Naval Staff Officer School (HNSOS), the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College (HSJWC) and the National Defense College (NDC).

Sea duty Assignments

He has served as a Navigation, Communications, Weapons and Operations Officer on several Fast Attack Crafts-missile boats. He has served as an Executive Officer in Fast Attack Crafts HS KONIDIS and HS KAVALOUDIS.

He has served as a Commanding Officer of the Patrol Boat HS PANAGOPOULOS II from 1991 to 1992, of the Torpedo Boat HS KYKLON from 1999 to 2000, of the Fast Attack Craft Missile HS LASKOS from 2002 to 2004 and the Frigate HS THEMISTOCLES from 2015 to 2016.

From 2007 to 2008 he served as a Commander of the Fast Patrol Boats 3rd Squadron.

From 2010 to 2011 he served as Chief of Staff of the Fast Patrol Boat Command.

From 2018 to 2019 he served as the Commander of the Fast Patrol Boat Command.

He also served in the Fast Patrol Boat Command as Operations Directorate Deputy Director from 2000 to 2002.

From 2004 to 2007 he served as a Staff Officer at the Personnel Branch of the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

From 2011 to 2014 he served as a Staff Officer at the Center of Excellence for Operations in Confined and Shallow Waters at Kiel, Germany.

From 2014 to 2015 he served as the Director of Staff at the Personnel Branch of the Hellenic Fleet Headquarters.

From 2016 to 2017 he served as the Evaluation Coordinator at the Operational Evaluation Directorate of Hellenic Fleet Headquarters.

From 2017 to 2018 he served as the Director of Chief Executive Office at the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

From 2019 to 2020 he served as Director at the Operational Evaluation Directorate of Hellenic Fleet Headquarters.

From 2020 to 2023 he served as the Commander of the Naval Tactics Training School.

From 2023 to 2024, he served as the Deputy Director of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Armaments Directorate.

From 2024 to 2025 he served as the Director of B’ Branch of the Hellenic Navy General Staff.
