On Monday, 6 July 2020, Naming-induction ceremony of the General Support Ship “IRAKLIS” in the Hellenic Navy took place at Salamis Naval Base, attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic Mrs Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of HAFGS Lieutenant General Georgios Blioumis, the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis ΗΝ and the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence Mr Antonis Oikonomou. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the political parties, the parliament, the Church and of the Regional and Local Self-Administration.
The ship is another kind donation of the President of the “Aikaterini Laskaridis” Foundation, ship-owner Mr Panagiotis Laskaridis.
