Admiral Ioannis Drymousis HN

Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymousis HN was born in Salamina in 1963. He was admitted to the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1982 and graduated in 1986 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

His operational service includes more than 15 years deployment at sea on board surface units, 6 years of which as Commanding Officer of PP PANAGOPOULOS III (P-96), FAC NTEGIANNIS
(P-26) and FFG HYDRA (F-452).

Regarding his shore/staff assignments he was positioned as Staff Officer of the Weapon Directorate of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Head of the Naval Weapons Directorate at the Salamis Naval Base, Director of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Chief’ s Executive Office, Commander of the Hellenic Fast Patrol Boat Command and Director of the Fleet Headquarters A’ Branch . From 2004 to 2007 he was stationed in USA as the Hellenic National Deputy at the NATO Sea Sparrow Project Office.

As  flag officer he was appointed Head of C’ Branch of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Commander of the Hellenic Frigate Command and Deputy Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet.

On March 2020 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and assumed the duties of Deputy Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

On 16th January 2023, upon decision of the Governmental Council on National Security, he was appointed Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

He is a graduate of the Naval Staff Officer School, the Naval War School, the Hellenic National Defence College and he holds a Master of Science in the faculty of Computer Science (NSP-USA).

He holds all of the Hellenic Armed Forces’ Decorations and Medals up to his rank.

Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymousis HN is married to Vasiliki Fasouli and has a daughter and a son.

He speaks English fluently.
