On Thursday July 30th, 2020, the ceremony of commencement of the Hellenic Naval Academy’s (HNA) annual Summer Training Cruise (STC) took place, before setting sail from the port of Piraeus.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, the Commander of HNA Rear Admiral I. Kalogeropoulos HN, the Commander of Frigates Commodore Polychronis Koulouris HN, the Commander of Amphibious Forces Captain Christos Georgoulas HN as well as relatives and friends of the Naval Cadets.
129 Naval Cadets as well as 6 students of other Military Academies were embarked onboard FFG “THEMISTOKLIS” (F-465) and LST “LESVOS” (L-172) participating in the STC, which will last until Friday August 28th, 2020. The ships are planned to sail to the ports of Corfu, Tinos and Souda Naval Base.
The purpose of the STC is at sea training and acquisition of naval experience by Naval Cadets, as well as the promotion of the Hellenic Navy in the ports of arrival.
