Visit of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff to Egypt

From Monday, April 7 to Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, conducted an official visit to Egypt following an invitation from his counterpart, Vice Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa Megahed.

During his visit, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Naval Forces Headquarters in Alexandria, where he held a private meeting with his Egyptian counterpart. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and initiatives aimed at further enhancing the cooperation between the two Navies. He also toured naval units docked at the Port of Alexandria.

The meetings and visits took place in a particularly warm and hospitable atmosphere, reaffirming once again the excellent relationship between the Hellenic and Egyptian Navies.

During his stay, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Patriarchate of Alexandria, where he met with His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II. He also met with the President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria, Mr. Andreas Vafeiadis, as well as with its members.

Additionally, as part of his briefing on the developments and activities of the Egyptian Navy, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Egyptian Naval Academy, where he was given a tour and informed about the Academy’s activities.
