History

The FPB Lieutenant VLACHAKOS was built at Elefsina Shipyards and is the seventh SUPER VITA type FPB designed by the English firm VOSPER THORNYCROFT. On August 30, 2022, the ship joined the Hellenic Navy Force while the naming ceremony took place on September 29, 2022 in the presence of Nikolaos Vlachakos, brother of Lieutenant Panagiotis Vlachakos HN. She was named in honor of the heroically fallen Lieutenant Panagiotis Vlachakos HN during the Imia crisis, whose death occurred in the morning hours of January 31, 1996 as a result of the fall of the AB 212 PN-21 helicopter in which he was Co-pilot.
