Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos HN

Commander in Chief of Hellenic Fleet

Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos HN joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1984 and graduated in 1988 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

His operational service includes assignments on board surface units, mainly on Frigates, as CIC, Communications, Operations, Executive Officer of FFGH HS ADRIAS and as Commanding Officer of PGB HS NIKI and FFGH HS ELLI.

His staff assignments include duty in Comms/IT Directorate at Fleet Command, Personnel and Career Directorate (HRM) of HNGS, Director of the HNGS Chief’s Executive Office, Director of the Operational Evaluations Directorate at Fleet Command, Director of Weapons, Electronic, Logistics Plans/Policy, Infrastructure (C’ Branch) at HNGS and Director of the HNGS Armaments Directorate. Stationed abroad, he served as Staff Officer in Plans and Policy Directorate of the European Military Staff.

He has also served as Commander of Frigates Squadron One (COMHELFRIGRON ONE), Commander of the Hellenic Frigates (COMHELFRIG) and Superintendent of the Hellenic Naval Academy.

In 2024 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and was assigned the duties of  Deputy Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

On 11th of January 2025 he assumed the Command of the Hellenic Fleet.

He is a graduate of the Hellenic Joint War College and he has attended various courses in NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany, such as NATO Operational Planning and Crisis Management.

He holds Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) focused on Comms Engineering, obtained by the US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).

He has been awarded with all the medals, decorations and commendations stipulated for an officer of his rank and seniority and he has also participated in UN Peacekeeping Operations.

He speaks English fluently.

He is married and has two sons.
