Rear Admiral Michail Demestichas ΗΝ

Rear Admiral Michail Demestichas HN was born in Athens in 1965. He was admitted to the Hellenic Naval Academy and graduated in 1988 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

During his sea duty assignments, he served as ASW, CIC and as assistant OPS officer onboard Destroyers and Frigates. He also served as XO on FFGH NAVARINON. His command tours include Commanding Officer of the Mine Sweeper HS AIDON, Frigate HS AEGEAN and Commander of Minehunters.

Regarding his shore/staff assignments he was positioned as Head of Department A3-II (Operational Planning – Exercises) in Hellenic Navy General Staff, A3-I (Navigation – Tactics Doctrines) in Hellenic Fleet Command as well as Head of Directorate A4 (Communications – Electronic Warfare) in Hellenic Fleet Command.   In addition to, he was positioned as Head of Directorate A5(Exercises) in Hellenic Navy General Staff and as Head of Directorate A1 (Operations) in HNDGS.  In 2009 until 2012 he was stationed in Intelligence Fusion Center (IFC) in Molesworth UK, as a Senior Analyst at the Middle East Section.

On March 2023, he was promoted to Rear Admiral and appointed as Deputy Commander of Hellenic National Defence College.  

He has attended a number of military schools among which are Electronic Warfare, Naval Staff Officer School, National Supreme Joint War College, NATO Defense College.  

He holds a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California (NPS – USA).

He holds all of the Hellenic Armed Forces Decorations and Medals up to his rank.

Rear Admiral Michail Demestichas HN is married to Elpiniki Maria Psifia and has a daughter and a son.
