The Hellenic Navy is taking over the Tactical Command of the 3rd Focused Operations of the NATO Operation “SEA GUARDIAN”, from April 14th to April 30th 2017, under the Commander of the 2nd Frigates Squadron (COMHELLFRIGRON2), who will be on board HS SALAMIS. These operations will take place in the Central/Eastern Mediterranean Sea with the participation of frigates, submarines, and maritime patrol aircrafts from Italy, Portugal and Turkey.
Operation “SEA GUARDIAN” is a Maritime Security Operation (MSO) which succeeded the NATO operation “ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR”. With its participation, the Hellenic Navy contributes to the international effort of achieving maritime security in the wider area of Central/Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
