Rear Admiral Fotios Botsas HN

Commander of Hellenic Naval Academy

Rear Admiral Fotios Botsas HN, was born in Athens, Greece, in 1967. He joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1985 and was commissioned as an Ensign of the Hellenic Navy in 1989.

His operational service includes assignments as Staff Officer on board surface units and as Commanding Officer of the PG HS ORMI and the TLS HS LESVOS (L 176).

Ηis shore assignments include duty as Staff Officer, Director of Directorate, Deputy Commander of the Hellenic Naval Academy, Staff Officer and Head of  Department of the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate at HNDGS. Furthermore, he has served at the International Relations Department of the Ministry of National Defence and the EU Military Committee.

He was assigned as Commander of the Hellenic Navy NCO Academy, the Amphibious Forces Command and the Aegean Naval Command.

In March 2024 he assumed duties as Superintendent of the Hellenic Naval  Academy. 

Ηe is a graduate of  all  the Hellenic Naval Career Development and Training Schools  and has attended various training  courses abroad. In addition, he graduated from the Collège interarmées de Défense  in France and the Hellenic National Defence College. 

He speaks English and French.

Ηe has been awarded with all the medals, decorations and commendations stipulated for his rank.

He is married and has two sons.
