Rear Admiral Konstantinos Vlachos HN


Rear Admiral Konstantinos Vlachos HN has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of the Navy since the 18th of January 2023. He was born on the 14th of July 1966. He joined the Hellenic Naval Academy on 14th of September 1984 and graduated in 1988 with the rank of Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.

Among his sea duty assignments, he served as CIC, Communications/EW, Crypto, Operations Officer, Executive Officer and finally as Commanding Officer of 3 Hellenic Warships.

Regarding his shore/staff assignments he was positioned as Head of Directorates/Departments of Hellenic Navy General Staff mainly at communication and Information Systems / Cyberdefense, Commander of the Hellenic Navy’s Main Communication HUB. From 2008 to 2011 he was stationed in Belgium/SHAPE as staff officer at Military Cooperation Division (MCD) International Coordination Center (ICC).

On 8th of March 2019, he was promoted to Commodore and on the 15th of April of 2019 assumed the duties of Chief of Staff in the Logistic Support Command of the Hellenic Navy. On the 20th of March 2020 he assumed duties at Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS) at Security and Counterintelligence Directorate, also as Head of National Security Authority and at Communication Directorate. On the 10th of October of 2021 he was appointed as the first Director of the newly established Space Directorate at HNDGS.

In 17th of January of 2023 he was promoted to Rear Admiral.

Rear Admiral  Konstantinos Vlachos HN holds the following Qualifications/Degrees: EW (Electronic Warfare Officer (year of graduation 1991), Communication/Signal Officer (year of graduation 1992), Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (NSP-USA) (year of graduation 1996), Naval Staff Officer School (year of graduation 1999), National Supreme Joint War College (year of graduation 2005), Hellenic National Defense College (year of graduation 2015), Certified PRINCE 2 Project Manager (2021).

He speaks English and French.

He is married and the father of a daughter and a son.

He holds all Greek Armed Forces’ decorations and Medals up to his rank.
