Rear Admiral Spyridon Alevras Hellenic Navy was born in Arkadia, in June 1967. He joined the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1985, as a Naval Cadet and graduated in 1989 as Ensign of the Hellenic Navy.
His operational service includes assignments at Frigates as Weapons Director, Minesweepers and Minehunters as Commanding Officer for a period of six years, at Landing Ships as Operations Director and Commanding Officer.
He has served as Commander of the Mine-Warfare School and the Landing Ships School of the Hellenic Navy, Section Head and Director of the A3 Directorate of the Fleet Headquarters, Commander of Minehunters Squadron, Operations Director of the Mine-Warfare Command, Section Head at the A1 Directorate of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Commander of “KANELLOPOULOS” Training Base, Chief of Staff at the Naval Training Command and Commander of the Amphibious Forces Command.
His multinational experience comprises of service as Staff Officer at SHAPE, Mons-Belgium, in the Military Partnerships Directorate and as Chief of Staff of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 (SNMCMG-2), for one year.
On January 2025 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and assumed duties as Director of the A΄ Branch (Operations) of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.
He has been awarded with all Greek Armed Forces’ designated medals, decorations and commendations up to his rank.
He is a husband and father of two.
He speaks English fluently.
